"My Love" Birds

Today is my hubby's 45th birthday!   Just took him to dinner at Outback and had a few minutes before going to see The American to post his card.  This is the card I made him.  He is a bird lover and so I had to incorporate birds into it.  I chose the Colour Q challenge for his card because it has such great masculine colors this week!  Great timing!

I've been working with paint chips for the Gingersnap Creations Scraplings trade and was inspired to simulate the effect on this card with the blues. Unfortunately, I didn't have blue paint chips that were appropriate so I cut three strips of cardstock for the different blues here applied them on the suede backing and then stamped them.

SPIES:
Stamps:  Take Flight - Red Lead Paperworks; Sentiment - Anna Griffin.
Paper:  All cardstock except for brown tag and brown backing behind bird image that is brown buckskin suede texture.
Ink:  Staz On Timber Brown.
Extras:  Cuttlebug leafy branch emboss folder; navy raffia wire; brown suede rope; metal leaves and metal button.

Have a Flutterby night!

'Hedge'-y Note - Whimsy Grunge

Another out of the ordinary lay out tonight.  All those arrows had me seeing tags, lots and lots of tags.  So I cut lots and lots of tags!  :D  I made this card primarily as a masculine card but seeing as I had to incorporate some peach color for the challenge, I chose a couple peach tags and peach thread.  The sentiment on the last tag is a digital stamp from Whimsy Stamps, just altered a bit using brown instead of black on my computer and ran through the printer a few times.  The green 'coin' in the slot was a fluke.  The space it is in is actually a ticket, but the slit popped open.  So, I decided to slip in the stamped circle as sort of a coin.  The hedgehog digital stamp I thought gave the card a little bit of fun ---'whimsy grunge'.

CHALLENGE:  ColourQ #43

SPIES:
Stamps:  Digital hedgehog - DigiDoodle Shop.  Sentiment - Whimsy Stamps.  Leaf flourish - mini stamp from stash.
Paper:  Bermuda Bay, Old Olive - StampinUP!, Peach , white, and light brown -stash.
Ink:  Staz On Timber Brown; Vintage Photo distress ink - Tim Holz.  Sienna brown watercolor pencil - Prismcolor.
Extras:  Peach embroidery thread. Patchwork emboss folder - Tim Holz.  Tag Die - Sizzix.

Well, August is literally around the corner ---30 minutes to be exact.  I guess that means we will be entering the dog days of summer, although around here it has already been like that for some time.

Circling 'Round Retro

Happy Saturday Evening!  It's been a stormy day here, but I'm not complaining.  We need rain!  And, it's a good excuse to do more crafting and watch movies.  Hubby and I watched 'Hachi' while I crafted. If you haven't seen it, it's very cute and family friendly.  It is about a dog named Hachi who was an Akita (Japanese dog breed) and very loyal to his master.  It seemed kind of fitting since Arielle's inspiration for the ColourQ challenge this week is from a Japanese flower.

I apologize for the poor photographing.  The dark pink is really dark pink and not red.

SPIES:
STAMPS:  Grateful sentiment from stash.
PAPER:  grey, white, light pink and black cardstock.  LOADS of DP from stash.
INK:  Pink
EXTRAS:  Black decorative ribbon.  Light pink ribbon.  white, pink and black buttons.  Flower and circle punches.  Light pink gems.

Mint Condition

CPS Challenge #167

A double challenge today.  Aren't these colors cool?  ColourQ has some really terrific color combos for their challenges.  I chose the sketch from CPS because it had such a masculine feel to it.  The brads are from K&Company.  However, I traded out the turquoise color brad because it was the wrong shade. I made my own with the Baja Breeze paper and clear emboss powder to get the leather look of the other brads.  It was also the perfect time to use my suede paper!

SPIES:
Stamps:  Sentiments --Happy Birthday from Hero Arts; Dad from Hampton Arts.
Paper:  Baja Breeze, Tan Suede, yellow and green cardstock from stash.
Ink:  Tim Holts Distressed Brown Ink.
Extras:  Brads, Ribbon.

How perfect is this?  I've had this patterned paper for a while and was going to use it for a Mother's Day card.  I've been MIA from the blog world as well as from my crafting for several weeks until today.  ColourQ's challenge colors this week just matched perfectly with this paper!  And since I decided to forge ahead and finish my Mother's Day cards even though they are late, here is one for Colour Q!

Paper:  Colored cardstock; Porcelain rosenthal DP from basicgrey; Black polka dot DP.

Bunny Layers

Sweet Sunday Sketch #57

It was a very cold day today, the wind brought temps down in the 20s.  A far cry from 62 this past Sunday!  So, what's a gal to do when it's cold and dreary outside?.......Stamp!  As I said in my last post, I have a long list of projects so I'm on my second post for today.  ColorQ's challenge this week is very springy and festive i think.  It gave me a chance to use my Bella digital stamp from M&M Designz.  She is so adorable.  She reminds me of a stuffed bunny my oldest son received before he was born 18 years ago.  The eggs around her feet were my own touch. Along with the ColorQ challenge, I tried out the sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch.  A great way to use all of those colors.

Stamp:  Bella from M&M Designz.
Paper:  DP from stash.
Ink: None, water color pencils.
Extras:  lime green and raspberry gem stickies, ribbon, egg punches.

Spring Chick

Today was a gorgeous, sunny and warm day, in the 60s!  It definitely got me in the mood for spring.  My 'spring chick' was inspired by hopes of urging spring to come soon and by the beautiful colors from the color challenge at ColourQ this week.  Love those bright colors!

Again, I must apologize that I'm working on a less than optimal computer and so I cannot link the pictures up to its owner's blog. So, for now, a word link will have to suffice along with the image.

Stamps:  Spring.
Paper:  DP and cardstock from stash.
Ink:  Versamark with turquoise embossing powder.
Extras:  Turquoise flower buttons, red embroidery thread, chick die, red and white rickrack ribbon, yellow gingham ribbon.

Cheers to Sunny Days!

All U Need Is Love

My third card for today, I assembled during the Superbowl.  It is another color challenge, but this time for ColorQ #18.  My colors may be a little brighter than asked for.  Yet, I had a lot of fun doing this card.  It put me in such a 'springy' mood, and I know we ALL could use some springtime about now!

I used my Sizzix Original flower die for all the flowers in all of the colors.  A small heart punch was used for the middle of the flower with a white pearl gem attached.  The card was completed with the 'all u need is love' sentiment stamp and ribbons.

Here's to spring-like days ahead!
