"My Love" Birds

Today is my hubby's 45th birthday!   Just took him to dinner at Outback and had a few minutes before going to see The American to post his card.  This is the card I made him.  He is a bird lover and so I had to incorporate birds into it.  I chose the Colour Q challenge for his card because it has such great masculine colors this week!  Great timing!

I've been working with paint chips for the Gingersnap Creations Scraplings trade and was inspired to simulate the effect on this card with the blues. Unfortunately, I didn't have blue paint chips that were appropriate so I cut three strips of cardstock for the different blues here applied them on the suede backing and then stamped them.

SPIES:
Stamps:  Take Flight - Red Lead Paperworks; Sentiment - Anna Griffin.
Paper:  All cardstock except for brown tag and brown backing behind bird image that is brown buckskin suede texture.
Ink:  Staz On Timber Brown.
Extras:  Cuttlebug leafy branch emboss folder; navy raffia wire; brown suede rope; metal leaves and metal button.

Have a Flutterby night!

Mint Condition

CPS Challenge #167

A double challenge today.  Aren't these colors cool?  ColourQ has some really terrific color combos for their challenges.  I chose the sketch from CPS because it had such a masculine feel to it.  The brads are from K&Company.  However, I traded out the turquoise color brad because it was the wrong shade. I made my own with the Baja Breeze paper and clear emboss powder to get the leather look of the other brads.  It was also the perfect time to use my suede paper!

SPIES:
Stamps:  Sentiments --Happy Birthday from Hero Arts; Dad from Hampton Arts.
Paper:  Baja Breeze, Tan Suede, yellow and green cardstock from stash.
Ink:  Tim Holts Distressed Brown Ink.
Extras:  Brads, Ribbon.

Electrifying Birthday

Another multi-challenge card.  I loved the sketch from Card patterns this week.  I've had the gaming DP for a while and with a couple teen boy birthdays coming up, I thought it perfect to use along with the digital stamp, Video Boy  from Mo's Digital Pencil Shop.

I downloaded a template for the controller die from Deviant Art,   printed it on regular paper for a template.  Cut it out in black cardstock, outlined it with a silver paint marker, added lime green gem dots and silver brads.  The 'cable' is exactly that, part of left over television cable that my husband cut and spliced up for me.  Talk about a hubby who supports my hobby!

Stamps:  Digital stamp, Video Boy - Mo's Digital Pencil.
Paper:  DP:  High Score video paper - Moxxie.  Peacock Red faux leather paper from Hot Off The Press.  Black, lime green, red cardstock and black polka dot from stash.
Ink:  Marvy Pens. Light peach pencil for skin.
Extras:  Game controller die.  TV cable.

Challenges:

Card Patterns - Sketch #55
Kaboodle Doodles - Birthday card
Stamp Simply - #131 CAS Texture
Lexi's Creations - Birthday

Ok, I don't know what I was thinking.  I was just about done with this post when while looking at the card I realized, I didn't color his skin!  Geesh!  So, it may not make the Card Pattern challenge but that's okay.  Of course, after I colored it I then had to rephotograph it.  Oh, for the love of art!
