CONGRATS! - Joy Fold Card

I haven't been in a very creative mood this week.  Think the soccer traveling is beginning to wear on me.  And of course, with graduation season upon us (my oldest graduates high school in June), Mother's Day AND Father's Day, it's not a good time for a creative block!

I did try a different special fold card today, a Joy Fold Card.  I found it over at Stamp Simply where this week's challenge is to make a Joy Fold Card.  Above is the tutorial from Splitcoaststampers that I used.  I modified my sizes a bit but it was really easy to do.  I was also going to make a gift card holder to place in the center flap, but I ran out of time.  The card was for my son's best friend's graduation party tonight and I didn't get a chance until this morning to sit down and make it.  So, as in some cases, best thought plans sometimes go awry.

Paper:  DP:  School Days by TPC Studios; Orange stars and blue grid from Making Memories 'Just Chillin' paper pad; navy, olive green and pumpkin orange cardstock.

Silver Nostalgia

I haven't done a Color Throwdown in a while and I so wanted to this week.  I love these colors together.  However, when I started looking through my paper, I found I was very limited on all of those colors.  I did have some leftover grey shiny paper from another project and some saffron.  Then, I started looking through my embellies and found all those wonderful flowers and shiny silver buttons, thanks to a box of old buttons my mother gave me when she downsized homes! And, they all combined well with the FTL 86 from Clean and Simple.

SPIES:
Stamps:  Sentiment
Paper:  Grey, Mandarin, So Saffron
Ink:  Versamark and silver emboss powder
Extras:  Flowers, silver buttons, silver brads.

CHALLENGES:
Color Throwdown:  Color Challenge #88
Bee-Crafty:  Engagement, Wedding or Wedding Anniversary Card

A fun birthday card for my youngest son's 16th birthday ToDay!  I looked for a car stamp and found this digital stamp, Gator Mobile, from Paper Popsicles.  I think he adds to the fun.  I also liked the straight lines of the sketch challenge this week at CPS.  Boys never like a lot of fuss.

Friendly Flowers - Card Swap Card

Photo Inspiration

Today is the Card Swap Exchange with my sister-in-laws in Oklahoma and some of their stamping friends.  They were kind enough to allow me to participate even though I live way over in North Carolina!  They are meeting as we speak to swap cards.  The theme was spring and I also incorporated a 'friends'  sentiment with it.  All in all, we had to make 7 cards, six to exchange and one to keep for ourselves.  These are the cards I made.  I got the inspiration from the metal heart flower container that hangs on my laundry door (see Photo Inspiration).  This is the same inspiration I used for the Mother's Day card I posted the other day.

I can't wait to see all the other cards that were created!

A Collage of Cards -- The rest of the cards I made for our church youth's Silent Auction.  Hopefully they will raise lots of money for their mission trip to Pennsylvania this summer.  Hopefully someone will bid on my cards and send some cheer through the mail!

Blooming Heart

I've been away from the blogosphere for a while again.  More on that in another post later.  I have several posts to make today to catch up.  I have been busy crafting even though my blog seems to state otherwise.  I joined a card swap and had to make 7 cards and then turn around and made several sets of cards and matted photographs to sell in a 'silent' auction at our church to help our youth raise money for their summer Mission trip.  So, the first auction card here is also for this week's Play Date Cafe challenge.  I've been wanting to make another easel card since I just gave away my first one to my sister-in-law on her birthday last week!  And would you believe it, this week's Pile It On challenge is an easel card!

The heart is actually two hearts together to form a pouch with a smaller cream heart against the back heart layer.  On the outer heart, I folded down the top to reveal the other side of the paper (cream polka dot side).  The flower buds come 12 in a pack and I bought some small stem pieces from the floral section of a craft store, cut them and glued them on the back of the flower buds and then stuck the stems down inside the heart pocket and adhered them with popdots.

Again, what luck this week that the challenge at Crazy4Challenges was to use 1 ribbon, 2 buttons or brads and 3 punches.  I just happened to do all of those. I used a lavender ribbon; 2 lavender buttons; a small circle punch for the 'mom' sentiment stamp; a scallop border punch and a rounded corner punch for the top DP paper layer underneath the 'happy mother's day' sentiment.

SPIES:

Stamps:  'Happy Mother's Day' sentiment and 'Mom' circle, both from Inkadinkadoo (I think).
Paper:  Cream and lavender cardstock; DP - 'Forever Love/Happily Ever After' double sided from Heidi Grace Designs.
Ink:  Lavender from Hampton Arts
Extras:  Flowers from Prima Marketing, Inc.(so gorgeous!); lavender buttons; lavender and plum ribbon; plum gem.

CHALLENGES:

Play Date Cafe:  Color Challenge
Crazy4Challenges:  1 ribbon, 2 buttons or brads and the use of 3 different punches
Pile It On:  Easel Card

Happy Saturday!
