Paisley Pal - Cupcake Inspiration

My first attempt at a Cupcake Inspiration Challenge.  I began with one idea and wound up with something totally different at the end!  Everything started with the white paisley and coordinating brown and blue stripe DP paper from DCWV.  I couldn't find any green paper  in my stash except for this one tiny piece.  So, I chose to stamp it with Sophie's clear stamp from Bo Bunny in brown and teal blue.  I used the same stamp and inks to stamp some of the flower dies also.  I outlined everything mostly in brown ink for a more worn and shabby look.  The bird die  I cut in brown for his base, then applied the paisley to his body and the stripes to his tail.

SPIES:
Stamps:  flower bouquet - 'Sophie' from Bo Bunny.  Sentiment - Inkadinkadoo.
Paper:  DP - Die Cuts With A View; brown cardstock, teal cardstock, light green DP from stash.
Ink:  brown and teal blue from Hampton Arts
Extras:  buttons, teal gem; green gems; wire jumpring, pearl brad, brown ribbon.

Have a Cupcake kind of day!

Father Christmas on Father's Day

Inside of Card

Whimsy Haven

Santa for Father's Day!  I found this gorgeous picture of Santa at The Graphics Fairy.  I used the colors from Gingersnap Creations #56 color challenge, but also added gold.  The burgundy background was Versamarked with a damask stamp. I stamped and embossed the cream DP paper with the same Damask stamp and then punched them out with a square punch.  Then I accentuated the pattern of the DP paper as well as around the image with a gold paint marker.

SPIES:
Stamps:  Damask~SavvyStamps.com; Santa man ~ clipart from The Graphics Fairy; Sentiment:  Cantaneo & Chocolate Box Fonts from Dafont.com.
Paper:   Cream, burgundy and gold cardstock; Black velvet specialty paper; DP: Ivory Swirls & Twirls from Paper Pizazz
Ink:  Versamark; burgundy emboss powder.Zig gold paint marker.
Extras:  Burgundy gems.

Lighthouse Trio

Yet another Father's Day card.  This one is for The Color Chef challenge at Kelly Jo's Stamp Pad (Colors -- cream, muted green and soft blue), and for the sketch challenge at CPS.  As you may be able to tell, I had many ideas for this card. The lighthouse stamps are digital stamps from KLM Designs, one of my favorite digi stamp stores. I printed them on soft blue vellum and placed them on cream ovals, overlaying them so some of the cream was visible. I decided to leave them just black outlined and thinks this I recently bought Spellbinder's Impressabilities Seas Scape and embossed the green background with it.  The embellishments are decorative buttons I had for another project but decided to string them on some rope for a more seaside feel.  The sentiment is Font Tiranti Solid, bold.

My favorite things of this card is the Impressability SeaScape and the lighthouse digis.

Good Time Blues

Taylored Expressions #17

Well, I have discovered that my light box is in dire need of my attention.  Yet, until I tear myself away from crafting long enough to spruce it up, I will have to photograph my posts in an alternative method.  This could mean switching my entire schedule around as I never finish a card in time to photograph it in daylight!  Until THAT time presents itself, my posts will include some type of colorful background so my cards won't fade into the light.

Now, on to business at hand.  A card truly for any occasion, but I have deemed it a Father's Day card.  I bought my first small set of Tim Holtz stamps several weeks ago and have been trying to find the right card/event to use them.  Only tonight, I only used one of them! :)

I've missed playing at the Play Date Cafe for several weeks.  It seems my schedule never quite allowed me to play along in time until this week.  In fact, another post I have was suppose to be for last week's Play Date, but graduation and visitors took precedence. This week they have some wonderful colors fit for masculine cards just in time for Father's Day.  And, I used the sketch from Taylored Expressions and also will enter in Stampin Royalty's challenge to make a masculine card.

SPIES:
Stamps:  Man - Tim Holtz; Sentiment - Hampton Arts; 'Fireworks' - Hampton Art minis.
Paper:  White and black cardstock.  DP from my stash.
Ink:  Staz On Jet Black; Royal Blue Ink It Up! from Nicole Crafts.
Extras:  Decorative black ribbon; black and blue brads; glitter glue, decorative scissors.

A Guiding Light

 Get Sketchy Challenge #42

All of the celebrations are over, school is over and this week we have been on a 'Staycation'.  Watching LOTS of World Cup Soccer (Go USA!); lounging around and for me, spending some uninterrupted time crafting and creating.  So, I have lots of things to post in the next couple days.

The first one, a Father's Day card for Get Sketchy Challenge  #42.  No surprise I'm sure.  There will be more of them later too!  I was playing around with my new compass rose stamp and decided to make my own die with it and distress it.  So, I stamped it in Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress ink.  Then, I dabbed some lime green ink, blended the inks together, crumpled up the paper for a more worn look and inked the edges.  I was really pleased with the result.  I also inked the edges of the lighthouse die.

SPIES:
Stamps:  Lighthouse - Inkadinkadoo; Compass Rose - Rubber Soul.
Paper:  Brown cardstock; brown & green DP - DCWV Old World.
Ink:  Tim Holtz Distress Ink Vintage Photo; Lime green - Hampton Arts
Extras:  Metal alpha buttons; cream burlap; lace ribbon.

More to come.....

Grad Cap Cards

I found these very cute graduation cap templates for cards at several different sites including The Cutting Cafe and Disney Family Fun.  I chose to use the one from The Cutting Cafe as it was a little smaller and the front and back were already connected.  Also, at The Cutting Cafe, you get the 'Happy Graduation' sentiment and an envelope to download.  It is a little hard to tell, but the second card is black and silver.

Peachy Proposal

A busy week again this week ----- graduation week!  Yet, I took some time to make an engagement card for a special friend's daughter.  And seeing how now TODAY is my 20th wedding anniversary, I guess I was feeling a little romantically nostalgic!  So, I made this card elegant by using a vintage clipart.  I printed it on the light peach cardstock to give it a softer look.  I  think the feather helps give it a more vintage feel.

SPIES:
Stamps:  Sentiment; Vintage Romance clipart from (http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r207/stripperpatrick/victorian_romance.gif).
Paper: Light Peach, Peach cardstock.  DP from stash.
Ink:  Staz On Black
Extras:  Light yellow ribbon; paper flowers, feather from K&Company.

I used the colors from this week's Play Date Cafe, however I missed entering it in the challenge.  I also used the sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge over at The Sweetest Thing.

Hope you have a little romance in your week!

Berry Sweet Chocolate

2Sketches4You

Time is winding down!  Summer vacation is upon us and soon my house will not be my own!  And to boot, this coming week is going to prove to be a very hectic one --- graduation events to attend as our oldest graduates high school.  With that said there are visitors coming, food to prepare or pick up, a lawn to mow, a house to clean, not to mention cards, cards and more cards to make!

I am hoping I made the deadline for 2S4Y.  They always have such simple and neat sketches.  That photo inspiration from All Sorts is just plain decadent!  So, what did I do?  I raided the fridge for the leftover chocolate frosting! Not exactly an entire chocolate cake, but I'll take it!

SPIES:
Stamps:  Sentiment
Paper:  DP:  White Embossed Swirl - The Paper Company; Red Suede; Dark brown  and olive cardstock.
Ink:  Staz On Brick Red
Extras:  Red velvet ribbon, lace border punch, pearl gems, pearl brad, sizzlet strawberry die.
