Berry Sweet Chocolate

2Sketches4You

Time is winding down!  Summer vacation is upon us and soon my house will not be my own!  And to boot, this coming week is going to prove to be a very hectic one --- graduation events to attend as our oldest graduates high school.  With that said there are visitors coming, food to prepare or pick up, a lawn to mow, a house to clean, not to mention cards, cards and more cards to make!

I am hoping I made the deadline for 2S4Y.  They always have such simple and neat sketches.  That photo inspiration from All Sorts is just plain decadent!  So, what did I do?  I raided the fridge for the leftover chocolate frosting! Not exactly an entire chocolate cake, but I'll take it!

SPIES:
Stamps:  Sentiment
Paper:  DP:  White Embossed Swirl - The Paper Company; Red Suede; Dark brown  and olive cardstock.
Ink:  Staz On Brick Red
Extras:  Red velvet ribbon, lace border punch, pearl gems, pearl brad, sizzlet strawberry die.

CHALLENGES:
2Sketches4You:  Sketch Challenge #53
All Sorts:  Strawberries and Cream Challenge
No Time To Stamp:  Stamp Simply Challenge #142 -Sweet Stuff!

Have a SWEET weekend!  Remember ~ Chocolate IS Sanity!

Beloved Vintage

TGIF!  How I love Fridays!  I've been revamping my blog this week taking it to a more vintage/shabby chic look.  Let me tell you --- there are A LOT of vintage blogs out there and a boat load of free vintage stuff!  I have so much creative flow going on inside my head I don't have the time for it to flow out my fingers!  LOL!

Anyway, I tried the vintage style on this card and I used the layout from 2S4Y's challenge this week.  The photo's a little bright and so the ivory cardstock I used as my base card doesn't show up as well.  I also used my new Spellbinders Impressabilities floral & stone to emboss the red cardstock, which can be seen better in the second photo.

The center picture is actually a photo I took of a miniature china plate that belonged to my maternal grandmother, which I inherited.  I photographed it in front of some sage green vintage scrapbook paper and shrunk it down to size for the card.  I also used the same picture to make a die cut for a wooden vintage type plate I made to go along with the card.  Photo here:

Sunny & Whimsy

Finally, I'm back to the blogosphere!  Ten days of sinus headaches are not fun.  Today was such a gorgeous day with 70 degrees and sunshine.  So what better way to end it, but with a very bright and sunny card.  I know I may be under-performing now after my bouquet easel card.  I would like to thank everyone who left such wonderful comments.  I will strive not to disappoint and I hope that even the so-so inspires.

Tonight's card was inspired by a pinwheel I found in my wrapping paper.  I thought it would be really fun and whimsical addition to a card.  I found this tutorial online:  http://rubberstamping.about.com/od/projects/ss/Pinwheel.htm.  It's very simple and can be scaled down to smaller sizes. I was going to use a straw for the pinwheel handle, but it seemed too flimsy.  I had some unused kabob skewers, shortened one and wrapped in white ribbon.  The only thing I was really not happy with was how the sentiment turned out.  I wanted to stick with the color combo and black just seemed to stark.  Oh well.  Something that will be mulled over as I sleep tonight I'm sure.   Topping it off was The Play Date Cafe color challenge this week along with the 2Sketches4You sketch.

Stamps:  Circle graphs, Inkadinkadoo.  Sentiment, stash.
Paper:  Pollen, Bazzill; White cardstock.  DP from stash.
Ink:  Bright Yellow
Extras:  Yellow brad, yellow flower, yellow gingham ribbon, white ribbon, dark yellow decorative ribbon.

Sunny Thoughts to All!

Irish Love

Bonus Sketch

Two Cards for 2S4Y #44.

LUCK O' THE IRISH --

Well, I think I got in just under the wire.  One of these days I will get things done earlier.  However, I am early for the Color Throwdown challenge.  I'm not completely satisfied with the Irish card.  Now that I look at it I did forget one element for the sketch on the bottom.  I was going for something a little quick and started out by making the colors of the Irish flag. I also wanted to use the shamrock stamp alongside my sentiment, but it was too large and since I was running out of time, I chose shamrock gems instead.  Still, it was a fun card to make.

Stamps:  Shamrock stamp and sentiment.
Paper:  green, orange and white cardstock.
Ink:  Pine.
Extras:  Nestability die, green brads, shamrock gems, green and orange ribbon.

LOVE --

The Love card I like a litlte better.  It is for the bonus challenge.  Although now you cannot see the image on the patterned paper as well, the heart columns I made with a heart punch and gell pen mirror the image of the pink hearts hanging off of green vines.  The color scheme is from Color Throwdown 76.  Again, I had to improvise a little on the colors and get them as close as I could.

Stamps:  NONE!
Paper:  Patterned paper, olive, pale yellow and raspberry cardstock.
Ink:  NONE!
Extras:  heart punch, olive gel pen; Sizzis skittle dee doo alpha die, rapsberry patterned ribbon.

Well, it's late and I'm up as usual, but not for much longer.

Blessings!

Holiday Birthday & Snow Peace

Holiday Birthday - 2S4Y 41

Today's first post is a birthday card for my dad whose birthday is December 23rd.  I like to try and give him regular birthday cards since his special day is around the holidays.  This time I did incorporate the Christmas colors into his card as well as his love of lighthouses.  This card was done for the 2 Sketches 4 You bonus challenge.  Don't know why but I skipped right over their first sketch of the challenge and went right for the bonus!

Stamps:  Lighthouse stamp and Birthday sentiment.
Paper:  Cream and red cardstock; DP green plaid and pine textured paper.
Ink:  Versamark with Rich Red emboss powder for sentiment.  Basic black for lighthouse stamp.
Embellishments:  Cuttlebug mosaic emboss folder; scallop punch; Sizzix swirl die cut; Sizzix photo corners; Le Plume markers on stamp; green brad and red plaid ribbon.

Snow Peace -- PPA21

In thinking about all the people snowed in today all over the country, my second card is a holiday winter theme.  It is all my own creation, sketch and all but I did it in mind for the PPA21 challenge of a winter wonderland.  In the back of my mind was this snowman face and after sketching it out, it's finally done.  He was very fun to create.

Stamps:  Peace sentiment.
Paper:  White and canary cardstock; star and blue stripe DP from stash.
Ink:  VersaMagic Cloud White and white emboss powder.
Embellishments:  Royal gel pen for trim around hat; White flocking powder; Sizzix star dies; buttons, thread and clear gem.

Happy Winter Wonders!
