Blooming Heart

I've been away from the blogosphere for a while again.  More on that in another post later.  I have several posts to make today to catch up.  I have been busy crafting even though my blog seems to state otherwise.  I joined a card swap and had to make 7 cards and then turn around and made several sets of cards and matted photographs to sell in a 'silent' auction at our church to help our youth raise money for their summer Mission trip.  So, the first auction card here is also for this week's Play Date Cafe challenge.  I've been wanting to make another easel card since I just gave away my first one to my sister-in-law on her birthday last week!  And would you believe it, this week's Pile It On challenge is an easel card!

The heart is actually two hearts together to form a pouch with a smaller cream heart against the back heart layer.  On the outer heart, I folded down the top to reveal the other side of the paper (cream polka dot side).  The flower buds come 12 in a pack and I bought some small stem pieces from the floral section of a craft store, cut them and glued them on the back of the flower buds and then stuck the stems down inside the heart pocket and adhered them with popdots.

Again, what luck this week that the challenge at Crazy4Challenges was to use 1 ribbon, 2 buttons or brads and 3 punches.  I just happened to do all of those. I used a lavender ribbon; 2 lavender buttons; a small circle punch for the 'mom' sentiment stamp; a scallop border punch and a rounded corner punch for the top DP paper layer underneath the 'happy mother's day' sentiment.

SPIES:

Stamps:  'Happy Mother's Day' sentiment and 'Mom' circle, both from Inkadinkadoo (I think).
Paper:  Cream and lavender cardstock; DP - 'Forever Love/Happily Ever After' double sided from Heidi Grace Designs.
Ink:  Lavender from Hampton Arts
Extras:  Flowers from Prima Marketing, Inc.(so gorgeous!); lavender buttons; lavender and plum ribbon; plum gem.

CHALLENGES:

Play Date Cafe:  Color Challenge
Crazy4Challenges:  1 ribbon, 2 buttons or brads and the use of 3 different punches
Pile It On:  Easel Card

Happy Saturday!

Birthday Bouquet-Easel Card

Photo Inspiration

This has to be my favorite card I have made!  I had so much fun putting it together and the easel card wound up being easier than I thought.  A special card for a very special birthday this year for my sis-in-law (brother's wife). The photo inspiration is the bouquet that I carried in their wedding almost 16 years ago.  It has made a beautiful flower arrangement in my guest room since then.  Trying a new technique is sometimes out of my comfort zone, but when my other sis-in-law, Twinklestamper, posted a tutorial on her blog for easel cards, I decided to try one.  I hope this becomes more than just a card and that my sis-in-law may enjoy keeping it up in her office.  ColorThrowdown #81 challenge this week had the perfect colors that matched the silk flowers and beaded leaves that I had found at a local fabric store in the wedding supplies aisle.

Stamps:  Birthday sentiment.
Paper:  Olive and brown cardstock; DP- Ivory Floral by The Gift Line and Paper Adventures;  Pink DP -Anna Griffin, Inc.
Ink:  Coffee Bean
Extras:  Silk flowers, beaded leaves, doilie, pink ribbon, pink flower button, heart corner punch, scallop border punch, pink and olive gem stickies.

Good evening!
