Raspberry Tree-Lyte

My 'sweet' Christmas card.  Fruit slices are my all time favorite sweet treat that I usually don't eat except around Christmas time.  They were the inspiration for my card here.  I took raspberry tissue paper cut in circles, folded them in half and then 'snowed' them up on the edges and arranged them here like a fir tree.  Then I added pearl gems, a silver star die and pink brad to finish out my tree.  I placed it all on a background of embossed ornaments from Sizzix.

Santa Wreath Ornament

Something different tonight for Fussy &Fancy Friday Challenge, Anything But a Card.  I have had these fabric flowers from an old apron and finally decided to recycle them into a Christmas ornament.  I used cardboard cut into a 6 inch diameter circle, covered both sides with gold vellum paper and green ribbon along the edges. I made a hole in the top of the circle and threaded green ribbon through for a ribbon hanger. Then, I adhered the Santa clipart, courteous of The Graphics Fairy, that I printed on photo paper to make it nice a bright.  Next, I sprayed some Pearl Glimmer Mist on the flowers to give them a bit of shimmer and then glued them along the outer rim of the circle to form a wreath, added the ribbon, green button and added red gems to the buttons in the middle of each flower.

Holiday Chic

Christmas In July!  A nice alternative way of cooling off in these hot summer days.  However, I can't say I'm in the holiday spirit just yet.  A little outside the box today with nontraditional Christmas colors for this holiday card!

CPS Challenge - Choose Your Own CPS Sketch

Happy New Year!  

I think I have finally knocked out some kinks in my blog facelift and can now post my first entry for my first challenge for 2010!  I still have some things to add back and have a list of things I want to add on to the blog, but that will wait until another day.

Gift Card Holders/Cards

As I was thinking about how to make a card/giftcard holder together, I was perusing through CPS' past sketches and found #84 and it was perfect for what I wanted to do.  I needed two masculine cards for giftcards and so this is what evolved.  It took me a bit to decide how to close the flap, button with ribbon and in the end I decided on velcro.  I had the iron on kind and it worked out better than I first thought.  It did take some time and care so that I didn't burn the paper even with covering the card with a pillow case before applying the iron heat.

Stamps:  Penguin - Inkadinkadoo; Reindeer face- Recollections; Sentiments-Recollections.

Paper:  Cardstock from stash; DP for penguin:  Meadow Grass Strip by Max's Backyard;  Reindeer - snow DP from basicgrey.

Ink:  Versamark dazzle in champagne; green, black, gold tinsel, and burgundy emboss powder.

Extras:  Ribbons:  red velvet (penguin card); green plaid and red plaid (reindeer card);  green tinsel ribbon for giftcard holders inside flap; green button (penguin), candy cane accent (reindeer); oval scallop border die cut; square punch; velcro.


For the ornament card holders I used the Sizzix ornament die and coordinated paper.  On the ornament, I cut two dies per holder, one in solid cardstock, the other in dp paper to match the card.  Then, I cut the DP ornament on top to make the pocket for the gift card and glued it onto the solid ornament, leaving a pocket in the middle.  Then, I added holly dies as a front border, made the ornament top in the same dp paper and added the green tinsel ribbon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2010!

Well, I have finally gotten most of my blog up and running.  Still some things to add and others to tweak but I didn't want to start off the new year completely under construction!  The end of year bulk posting will now be a New Year extravaganza mostly of leftover Christmas cards I didn't get posted earlier.

One resolution I've made already is to start NOW on next year's Christmas cards so they will all be done before Christmas!  What a concept for me!  LOL  Hopefully, a resolution that I can keep, along with several others, but those will be left for discussion elsewhere.......possibly in another new blog.

So anyway, I hope my makeover here is not a disappointment.  Sorry it took so long, yet sometimes, creativity cannot be rushed.  The biggest change is going from 2-columns to 3-columns and I like it much better.  More things will be added in the very near future, but for now, this is the new look of Snap, Scrap, and Dazzle.  One might ask, where do the cats fit in?  Well, the cat on the header is just one in my collection that sits in my kitchen.  The cat thing started when my husband gave me a kitten as a college graduation gift.  She was with us for 17 years and grew into a dear friend.  Then, there was the cat cookie jar, a wedding gift that set off the kitchen decor.  And, if that isn't bad enough, thanks to my kids, I believe I own just about every Beanie cat made.  So I decided to add my now slight obsession with all things cats, to the blog as a way to make it unique and my very own.  So I hope you enjoy the new look.

A Harley Holiday

 

Today is a special card with no particular sketch in mind.  A Christmas card for my brother, a Harley guy.  I thought it would be  fun to have lights stringing behind the cycle and dragging a tree for some holiday whimsy.

Stamps:  Motorcycle, light string and tree and Happy Holidays sentiment.

Paper:  Red and cream cardstock; photo corners, diamond background - DP.

Ink:  Versamark with red, green and black powder.

Embellishments:  Celebrate ribbon, Sizzix photo corner die, red and green gems, red star button.

Seasons Greetings

Another version of the FTL72 .  This time I added some ribbon.  The flower is a Sizzix die cut from the same DP as the background with the edges embossed in gold glitter.

Holiday Birthday & Snow Peace

 

Holiday Birthday - 2S4Y 41

Today's first post is a birthday card for my dad whose birthday is December 23rd.  I like to try and give him regular birthday cards since his special day is around the holidays.  This time I did incorporate the Christmas colors into his card as well as his love of lighthouses.  This card was done for the 2 Sketches 4 You bonus challenge.  Don't know why but I skipped right over their first sketch of the challenge and went right for the bonus!

Stamps:  Lighthouse stamp and Birthday sentiment.
Paper:  Cream and red cardstock; DP green plaid and pine textured paper.
Ink:  Versamark with Rich Red emboss powder for sentiment.  Basic black for lighthouse stamp.
Embellishments:  Cuttlebug mosaic emboss folder; scallop punch; Sizzix swirl die cut; Sizzix photo corners; Le Plume markers on stamp; green brad and red plaid ribbon.



Snow Peace -- PPA21

In thinking about all the people snowed in today all over the country, my second card is a holiday winter theme.  It is all my own creation, sketch and all but I did it in mind for the PPA21 challenge of a winter wonderland.  In the back of my mind was this snowman face and after sketching it out, it's finally done.  He was very fun to create.

Stamps:  Peace sentiment.
Paper:  White and canary cardstock; star and blue stripe DP from stash.
Ink:  VersaMagic Cloud White and white emboss powder.
Embellishments:  Royal gel pen for trim around hat; White flocking powder; Sizzix star dies; buttons, thread and clear gem.

Well, about half of NC is covered in snow, the other half in rain and later ice!  We, unfortunately, are part of the latter with no white stuff on the ground to shift the holiday spirit into high gear. So, I'm stuck with creating my own winter wonderland here with my cards.

A very simple card tonight using Clean and Simple's sketch from last week, FTL72.  Great sketches for quick and easy cards when you're in a pinch!

Bright Lite, Let It Snow(pink) -Man, Tree Bling and Peace

Winter Advisory for the next two days for the Triangle!  Winter is definitely knocking on our doors here in NC.  It's a good thing I have nothing planned or anywhere I have to go for the next two days but finishing cards, baking and wrapping.  Anyway, I have finally found time this week to get some cards made and am posting several tonight.

Bright Lite Christmas - Get Sketchy #18

The first, is for the Get Sketchy #18 challenge. 

Stamps:  Christmas light stamp from stash.  Merry Christmas tree stamp, Inkadinkadoo.
Paper:  White and red cardstock, green polka dot DCP  and Christmas light DCP from stash. 
Ink:  Pine green for light border.  Versamark embossed in yellow and emerald embossing powders for tree/sentiment.
Embellishments:  Red and green ribbon; Christmas light buttons; cuttlebug emboss folder.


Let It Snow(pink)-Man! -- Paper Cutz Challenge #21

 I made this card  using the sketch for the MMSC 31 challenge at Priscillastyles and  for Paper Cutz challenge to use a snowflake or snowman.  I  got so busy I didn't get it posted for the Midnight Madness challenge, but here it is for Paper Cutz.  The color scheme fell together with the DP background paper.  I wanted to make something kind of girlie and soft.  I love the snowman face and I played around with him in many different colors and techniques before deciding to go with the pink embossing with glitter on top.  I chalked around him, or 'her' I should say being as 'she' is pink, for a softer effect.  I thought the double framing accented more of the dark blue and pink colors and livened the card up.  The snowflakes are yet again a find at Michael's in their Christmas decor section.  I purposely made one side of the ribbon longer to add to the softer look I was wanting.

Stamps:  Snowman face and 'Let It Snow' sentiment - Inkadinkadoo.

Paper:  DP, baby blue, pink, white, and royal blue cardstock from stash.

Ink:  Versamark with pink embossing powder and pink glitter; pink chalk.

Embellishments:  Colored gems, mini snowflake ornaments, baby blue sheer ribbon; snowflake embossing folder - Cuttlebug; corner punches - EK Success and Sizzix sizzlit. Tag - Sizzix original.

My next two cards were free design cards, meaning I designed the layouts and themes myself not to fit any particular sketch or theme challenge.

Tree Bling

I have had the sparkly blue and red paper and when the holidays rolled around and I got one of the Sizzix ornament dies, I knew it was a match.  I had a 'Cheer' sentiment in red on it also but the more I looked at it the more I thought it was too much so I went without it.  I like it much better this way.

PEACE

In my craft supplies I found a bunch of Christmas stencils and decided to try them on my cards.  I used chalk for the medium, chalked the pine cones and then sprayed them with craft matte spray.  I placed gold ribbons with gold brads on them.  I punched the corners off and adhered it to green textured paper and then gold paper.  I punched the 'Peace' sentiment out of wide, gold ribbon using the Sizzix Skittle Dee Doo alphabet.  Lastly, I used a gold rope ribbon down the middle.

I like the simplicity and masculine look of this card.  I intend to use the stencils for more cards so stop by in the near future to see them!
